LOCAL BUSINESS SUPPORT GROUP HELP BUSINESSES BEAT THE RECESSION

A group of local business people have teamed up to provide support for businesses in the LS29 postal code area and guide them through coping with the recession. The newly formed ‘Ilkley Business Forum' is a group that acknowledges the effect of the recession on local businesses, in particular in the Ilkley, Burley in Warfedale, Addingham and Menston areas, and consequently strives to provide as much support as possible through meetings, advice and other forms of communication.
The Ilkley Business Forum represents the interests of the targeted LS29 area using a number of recession busting methods. The first of these methods, launched earlier in 2009, is the "LS29 Community Voucher Scheme" which allows customers of participating local businesses to redeem discounts on their goods and services - not only helping local businesses boost sales but to encourage local residents to remain loyal to the firms in their area.
Meetings and newsletters have also been key elements in the launch of the Ilkley Business Forum, by encouraging businesses to network and to keep up with the latest news in their area. So far, 2009 has seen the Forum act as a focal point for business development initiatives (both business to business and business to consumer) and provided advisory and training support for the LS29 area. Their plan for 2010 is to build on this success and continue in providing their invaluable services and support. The next official meeting of the Forum will be on Thursday 28 January 2010.
