Over 200 Year 8 students from Salt Grammar School in Baildon took the first steps on the road to starting their own businesses last week when they attended a Marketing Industry Masterclass run by Young Enterprise.

As part of the school’s Year 8 Enterprise Activity Day, the Marketing Masterclass was a one day seminar designed to provide young people with an insight in to the skills and attitude needed to work in the marketing industry. In keeping with the Young Enterprise philosophy of ‘Learning by Doing’, the seminar featured a competition where students designed a marketing pitch to promote the brand new Titus Salt School which is due to open later this year.

Simon Hawkins from the school’s Senior Leadership Team at Salt Grammar School said:
“This has been an exciting day for our students. Having a new school to move into in September gave us a unique opportunity to think about branding and image; something we can all relate to and experience. The activity has really captured the students’ imaginations and helped them to develop and apply marketing skills.”
