Teachers from across Bradford were joined by the District’s biggest employers on Friday 20 June when they attend an inspirational conference at Marriott Hollins Hall, Baildon.

‘Inspire a Brighter Future 2008’ was run by business-education charity Young Enterprise, as part of the Bradford Kickstart programme. The delegates were introduced to exciting educational initiatives and new developments in enterprise, through a range of workshops and guest speakers, including Ian Hughes, Enterprise Education Policy Lead, Young People’s Strategic Delivery Division, Department for Children, Schools and Families.

As well as engaging presentations from organisations including Young Enterprise, Education Bradford, The University of Bradford and The Young People’s Enterprise Forum, this unique conference presented both teachers and employers alike with a fantastic opportunity to share best practice and celebrate the developing enterprise culture of the Bradford district.

Enterprise education is about equipping young people with the knowledge and attitudes needed to manage the risk, change and uncertainty that exist in the world around them. It plays an integral role in Bradford Council’s Kickstart Programme as a way of ensuring that the young people of the District have the necessary skills to succeed in the world of work.

“Today’s young people will be the life blood of tomorrow’s prosperous economy in the Bradford District,” says Imtiaz Ahmed, Enterprising People Co-ordinator in the Kickstart team.

“By putting enterprise at the heart of the school agenda – and by funding specialist training to help teachers inspire young people to become more enterprising – Bradford Council, through Kickstart partners such as Young Enterprise, will empower them to fulfil their potential and achieve their ambitions.”
